The physical environment and our perceptions affect our interactions in all types of settings, including those within healthcare. In fact, some research suggests that some aspects of nonverbal communication between doctors and their patients could improve if they ditch their desk. Other environmental factors from the color of the walls to the texture of the furniture can also influence this communication.
